Accessibility Statement
Freedom Road Living's commitment to an accessible website, the standards we follow, known limitations, and how to request help.
Freedom Road Living is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities and people who use assistive technologies. Travel planning should be open to all.
Our standard
We design and test toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. This is the benchmark referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice’s guidance under the Americans with Disabilities Act, by Canadian accessibility laws such as the Accessible Canada Act and Ontario’s AODA, and by the European Accessibility Act (EN 301 549).
What we do
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure and page landmarks.
- A “Skip to content” link and fully keyboard-operable navigation, menus, forms, and calculators, with visible focus indicators.
- Calculator inputs with visible labels and units, and results announced to screen readers when they update.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images and empty alternatives for decorative ones.
- Color contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG AA, and information never conveyed by color alone.
- Text that can be resized to 200 percent and layouts that reflow on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
- Respect for the “reduced motion” setting on your device.
- Descriptive link text and form error messages.
- Printable checklists.
Known limitations
- Some third-party content we link to or embed, such as merchant websites or videos, is outside our control and may not meet the same standards.
- Older articles may occasionally have images without ideal descriptions; we fix these as we find them.
Feedback and assistance
If you have difficulty using any part of the Site, or need information in another format, email hello@freedomroadliving.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Tell us the page and the problem, and the format that works for you. We aim to acknowledge requests within 2 business days and to resolve or provide an alternative within 10 business days.
Continuous improvement
We review accessibility when we add features, test with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers, and use automated checks. This statement was last reviewed on the date below.
Accessibility standards and laws we follow
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the most widely used international standard. In the United States, courts have applied the Americans with Disabilities Act to many websites, and we treat accessibility as part of serving every reader rather than a box to check. For readers in the European Union, the European Accessibility Act applies to many digital services from June 28, 2025; we follow its accessibility requirements as good practice even where a small publisher is exempt.
How we build for accessibility
- Semantic headings, landmarks, and a skip link on every page.
- Text alternatives for informative images, and captions that explain photos.
- Color contrast chosen to meet WCAG AA, and visible focus outlines for keyboard users.
- Calculators built with labeled form fields that work with a keyboard, and results announced to screen readers.
- Tables with header cells, and wide tables that scroll within their own container on small screens.
- No autoplaying audio or video, and no content that flashes.
Third-party content
Some content comes from third parties, such as embedded maps, videos, or merchant sites reached through our links. We cannot control their accessibility, but we will look for accessible alternatives when readers report a problem.
Response times
We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within five business days and to fix issues on our own pages as quickly as we can. If a fix will take time, we will provide the information you need in another format in the meantime.
