Affiliate Disclosure
How Freedom Road Living earns money through affiliate links, which programs we participate in, and how we keep recommendations independent.
Freedom Road Living is reader-supported. Some links on this Site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up, we may earn a commission from the merchant or network at no extra cost to you. This disclosure is provided in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), the Competition Bureau of Canada’s guidance on influencer and affiliate marketing, and the requirements of the programs we participate in.
Amazon Associates
Freedom Road Living is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
Other affiliate programs
We participate in affiliate programs managed through networks such as Impact, and directly with brands. Programs we work with may include makers and retailers of portable power stations, solar equipment, batteries, RV gear, camping equipment, connectivity products, eSIMs, VPNs, and RV rental and campground services. We link only to programs we have been approved for, and we remove links when a program ends.
How affiliate links are marked
- A disclosure appears near the top of any page with affiliate links, before the first affiliate link.
- Affiliate links are tagged in the page code with
rel="sponsored nofollow", as search engines ask. - We do not hide affiliate links behind misleading text or disguise them as editorial references.
Our independence promise
- Commissions never decide our recommendations. We recommend products and services on their merits for the specific reader need, and we include options that pay us nothing when they are the better fit.
- Our tools are commission-blind. Calculators recommend capacities, specifications, and categories, not brands, so no commission can affect a result.
- We say what we tested. Reviews state whether a product was tested hands-on or researched. See our Review Methodology.
- No paid rankings. Brands cannot buy a better position, rating, or review.
- Free products are disclosed. If a brand ever provides a product for review at no cost, we will say so in the review, and it will not change our conclusions.
Prices
We avoid publishing prices because they change constantly. Check the merchant’s site for current prices, taxes, shipping, and return policies. Merchants, not Freedom Road Living, are responsible for the products they sell.

How our affiliate links work, in detail
Networks and programs we use
We currently earn commissions through Amazon Associates and through brands that run affiliate programs on the Impact network, including makers of portable power stations, solar equipment, RV and camping gear, travel connectivity, and mobile office equipment. The exact list changes as programs approve or end partnerships, and a link appears only while a program is active and approved in our records. We may add other networks or direct partnerships in the future, and this page will be updated when we do.
Where affiliate links appear
Affiliate links can appear in articles, in “Brands to compare” boxes that match the topic of a page, and on our hub pages. Every affiliate link is marked in the page code with rel=”sponsored,” and a disclosure appears near the top of any page that contains one. We link to brand stores or search results rather than quoting prices, because prices change constantly.
Tracking codes in our links
Some affiliate links include a short code that tells the network which page and which part of the page the click came from, such as the article’s web address and “brand-box.” This helps us learn which content is useful. The code never contains your name, email address, or any other information about you.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment to include a product in a comparison or to rank it higher.
- We do not claim to have tested products we have not tested; research-based coverage is labeled as research.
- We do not publish fake reviews or testimonials, consistent with the Federal Trade Commission’s rule on consumer reviews and testimonials.
- We do not change our conclusions based on commission rates.
Legal basis for this disclosure
We make these disclosures to comply with the Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, as revised in 2023, Amazon’s Associates Program Operating Agreement, and the rules of each affiliate network. For readers in Canada, we also aim to meet the Competition Bureau’s guidance on deceptive marketing and influencer disclosures.
