RV Loan Payment Calculator
Monthly payment, total interest, and the full cost of an RV loan.
Monthly payment, total interest, and the full cost of an RV loan. Free, private, and it shows its working.
How to use this tool
RV loans often run much longer than car loans. A longer term lowers the payment but increases total interest and the risk of owing more than the RV is worth as it depreciates.
Try changing the term and down payment to see how the total interest moves.

Worked example
Here is what the RV Loan Payment Calculator returns with its starting values. Replace them with your own numbers for a real plan.
| Input | Example value |
|---|---|
| RV price | 85000 $ |
| Down payment | 15000 $ |
| Trade-in value | 0 $ |
| Sales tax + fees | 7 % |
| Interest rate (APR) | 8.5 % |
| Term | 180 months |
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Monthly payment | $748 |
| Amount financed | $75,950 |
| Total interest | $58,674 |
| Total paid (loan + down + trade) | $149,624 |
How the calculation works
- Amount financed = price x (1 + 7%) – down – trade = $75,950.
- Payment uses the standard amortization formula: P x r / (1 – (1 + r)^-n), with r = APR / 12 and n = 180.
- Total interest = payment x 180 – amount financed = $58,674.
Tips for more accurate results
- Compare at least two terms, such as 10 and 15 years, and look at total interest as well as the monthly payment.
- A larger down payment reduces the risk of owing more than the RV is worth as it depreciates.

When this tool helps most
Use it to compare offers side by side. Try at least two terms and two down payments, and compare total interest as well as the monthly payment.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Choosing the longest term just to lower the payment.
- Forgetting that a larger down payment lowers the risk of owing more than the RV is worth.
- Comparing offers with different fees without adding the fees in.
Step-by-step guides that use this tool
These guides explain the decisions behind the numbers, so you can act on your result with confidence.
Understanding your results
- Monthly payment: principal and interest only; add insurance and registration separately.
- Total interest: the cost of borrowing over the full term.
- Term trade-off: compare two terms side by side to see how much a lower payment really costs.
Two quick scenarios
Same RV, two terms
A shorter term raises the payment but cuts total interest. A longer term lowers the payment, yet the balance may stay above the RV’s resale value for longer.
Rate shopping
A small difference in rate adds up over a long RV loan, so comparing written offers is worth the time.
Before you rely on the numbers
- Confirm whether the rate is fixed or variable.
- Ask about prepayment penalties.
- Compare the annual percentage rate, not just the interest rate.
- Check the payment against your full monthly budget.

Frequently asked questions
Terms vary by lender and loan size and can be much longer than car loans. Longer terms mean lower payments and more interest overall. It is convenient but increases the amount you pay interest on. If you can, pay them in cash and set the tax field to zero. How long are RV loans?
